# How do I set a writing goal? (legacy)

Writing goals are a great way to stay motivated and track your progress. 

In Novlr, you can set a daily or monthly writing goal for how many words you want to write. Once you’ve started writing, Novlr will keep track of your weekly streak so you can track your progress. To set a goal:

1. Go to your Dashboard and open **Writing Studio **in the menu on the left-hand side of your screen.
2. Scroll down to the **Goals** section
3. On either the daily or monthly card, after **Today I'll write**, type in the number of words you would like to aim for
4. After **Words in**, select whether you want to achieve that goal on a specific project or across all projects
5. Click **Set goal**

| You can have both daily and monthly writing goals set at the same time.

Your writing streak will update every week, regardless of your goal.
